Brock Confirms City Council Run

On March 25, 2019, Grant Brock confirmed the rumors surrounding his candidacy for the upcoming Cincinnati City Council election. A few weeks ago, a member of the City Council resigned for personal reasons after serving less than two years in the position. The vacant council seat is to be filled by an election scheduled for April 29th. The first candidate to put their hat in the ring is Grant Brock.

Brock comes into the race as a left-wing activist with an interesting background. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Cincinnati before serving in the Peace Corps. His volunteer worked continued in Cincinnati after the Peace Corps, working as a volunteer coordinator for the Obama and Clinton presidential campaigns. Today, Grant Brock resides in Over-the-Rhine.

When asked to substantiate the rumors about his candidacy, Brock responded simply by saying, “Yes, we’re very excited about it.” Interestingly, Brock made this confirmation well-prior to his official announcement. Some worry that this may steal some of the early thunder of the campaign. Nonetheless, his optimism about getting a seat on the Cincinnati City Council was evident.

However, there are early indications that Brock might struggle with fundraising. When asked about it, he said that he would take a grassroots approach to fund his campaign. “I want to focus more on getting in touch with voters on a personal basis and getting in touch with groups that might not get their voices heard,” Brock said. He fully acknowledged the possibility of upcoming fundraising challenges and is confident in his message.
